If I attach a Grass energy to Neo:Discovery Eevee, do I *have* to use it's "Energy Evolution" power even though there are currently no grass-type evolutions available for Eevee? I mean, what if I don't want to shuffle my deck? A. Yes, you still have to flip. If you don't want to shuffle your deck don't attach any energy. (Oct 4, 2001 WotC Chat, Q2) == TRANSFORM (Ditto - Fossil Expansion) //Other Transforming Rulings Q. If I use Ditto against my opponent's Active Pichu and use Zzzap, would Ditto then do 20 damage to itself because it has its power? A. Yes, it would. Say I have a Gengar & a Haunter on my bench. I use Gengar's "Curse" and then play Hyper Devo Spray to remove the Gengar. Can I now play the Gengar card on my other Haunter and use "Curse" again? A. Yes, you could do that now. [Ed.Note: See also "Pokemon Powers In General" section.] (Oct 4, 2001 WotC Chat, Q1) == DOUBLE GUST (Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. Can I use Double Gust if I don't have any Pokemon on my bench? The first sentence reads, "If you have any Benched Pokemon..."; so what if I don't? And does it matter if the opponent has any on their bench or not? A. Yes, you can. No, it does not. (Oct 4, 2001 WotC Chat, Q3) == LT. SURGE'S SECRET PLAN (Gym: Challenge Expansion) Q. Why do you need to know if a LSSP'd card is a Pokemon to gust it? A. That has been corrected, you do NOT need to flip over an LSSP'd card for Gust of Wind. (Oct 4, 2001 WotC Chat, Q25) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS SINCE BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. Last November you said that if you GOW a card laid down by LSSP, "it stays face down until it is attacked or attempts to attack". But in the WotC Rulings Document, the same question is answered that GOW triggers the "need to know" clause. Which is it? And would you *have* to pick a pokemon to GOW if the opponent's LSSP'd card is not a basic pokemon? A. OK, LSSP says you must flip the card over if you ever need to verify what it is. Gust of Wind says to Choose 1 of your opponent's Benched POKEMON. So you MUST prove that it is a Pokemon for that Trainer card, thus it is flipped over. Yes you would have to pick; you played the trainer. You couldn't change your mind if it was a Pokemon, you could pick a Pokemon if it wasn't. (Sep 20, 2001 WotC Chat, Q81 & Q87 & Q97) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS SINCE BEEN REINSTATED; See Above ***** Q. If a player puts an energy face-down with Lt. Surge's Secret Plan, and then the other player uses Gust of Wind to make it the active, what happens? A. It stays face down until it is attacked or attempts to attack.
