Can I attach a Boost Energy to Skyridge Alakazam and then move it to a basic Pokemon? If so, then would I have to discard the Boost Energy as soon as it is moved because Boost Energy says, "when the Pokemon Boost Energy is attached to is no longer an Evolved Pokemon, discard Boost Energy". Boost Energy was never ATTACHED to the basic Pokemon, it was MOVED to it. A. First off, yes you can use Energy Jump to move Boost Energy after attaching it to the Alakazam. However, if you move it to a Basic Pokemon it would be discarded immediately because it is "no longer an Evolved Pokemon". (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == PRIMAL VEIL (Armaldo - EX:Sandstorm) Q. If I have a Sableye active and I'm facing an Armaldo, I use "Supernatural" and find a Copycat in his hand. May I use the Copycat or does the attack do nothing as a result of Armaldo's Poke-Body?? A. Well, Supernatural says "You may use the effect of a Supporter card you find there as the effect of the attack". That is not the same thing as "playing a Supporter", so it would not be prevented by Armaldo and you can use the effect of the Supporter card. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == SAFEGUARD (Wobbuffet - EX:Sandstorm) Q. What if I put up a Mewtwo EX against Wobbuffet and try to use Energy Absorbtion? Would that trigger Wobbuffet's "Safeguard" Poke-Body? A. No, Mewtwo EX's "Energy Absorption" is not doing any effects to Wobbuffet, so Safeguard would not prevent it. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) Q. Say Shedinja or Wobbuffet is my active Pokemon and my opponent uses Kindra EX's Genetic Memory attack and chose Seadra's Water Arrow to attack my benched Pokemon. Is Genetic Memory blocked by Shedinja's Wonder Guard and Wobbuffet's Safeguard when attacking something on the bench? A. The wording of Shedinja's "Wonder Guard" and Wobbuffet's "Safeguard" are very similar to Neo Revelation Suicune's "Crystal Body" power. So basically anything that is not being directly done to Shedinja or to Wobbuffet does not get ignored. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == WONDER GUARD (Shedinja - EX:Dragon) Q. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == LURING FLAME (Slugma - EX:Dragon) Q. Can you use Slugma's "Luring Flame" attack if your opponent has no Pokemon on their bench to switch with? A. No, if the opponent has no benched Pokemon you cannot use Luring Flame. You can't do the first thing, so you don't do the second thing. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == SUPERNATURAL (Sableye - EX:Sandstorm) Q. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == RARE CANDY (EX:Sandstorm) Q. Could you Rare Candy a Pokemon and NOT play an evolution on it just to get rid of the Rare Candy? A. No, you cannot discard a card for free. You must be able to attach the Stage 1 or Stage 2 card, or you cannot use the Rare Candy. (Oct 30, 2003 PUI Rules Team; Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == FLIPPING COINS, DICE, ETC. Q. In sanctioned tournaments, if you use dice instead of a coin for heads/tails, do you have to use a D6? In our pre-release yesterday, a couple players were using D8's and D10's, and I wasn't sure if those were legal or not. A. As long as it is random, and clearly defined for the match, it doesn't matter. Random is random, as long as it's random. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) Q. In a sanctioned tournament, can the player object to the flipping device of the opponent and get it changed? A. If there is any question about the accuracy of the flipping device, call for a judge. The judge can decide if a device is sufficiently random or not. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == STARTING THE GAME Q. I've just opened the two Dragons theme decks; however there is no mention in the new Rulebook of the Fossil trainers cards being basics for the purposes of starting the game. So are we back to the Fossil Trainers being just that? You can no longer start with a lone Fossil? Does the latest rulebook supercede the previous rulebook? A. No, there was no mention of Fossil Trainers simply because there aren't any in the EX:Dragon set. You still can play them as basics at the start like you did in EX:Sandstorm. (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TWO ON TWO GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == DRAGON DANCE (Altaria - EX:Dragon) Q. If I am playing 2-on-2 and I use Dragon Dance with Altaria, then next turn use Double-edge with Golem EX, would Double-edge do 160 to the Defending Pokemon and 90 damage to Golem EX? Or 160 damage to the Defending Pokemon and still only 50 damage to Golem EX? A. The +40 damage from Dragon Dance only applies to Defending Pokemon, not to either of the Attacking Pokemon. So Golem EX would only do 50 to itself (Dec 4, 2003 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TEAM GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xxxxxxxxx1xxxxxxxxx2xxxxxxxxx3xxxxxxxxx4xxxxxxxxx5xxxxxxxxx6xxxxxxxxx7xxxxxxxxx8
