With Aquapolis Porygon2's PP "Backup", can the opponent use it too or is it bad templating? (The wording seems to indicate you can). A. Only you get to use it, not your opponent. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q24) == CRYSTAL TYPE (Kingdra, Lugia, & Nidoking - Aquapolis Expansion) Q. Will a crystal pokemon become 3 types if you attach a Rainbow Energy? A. No, read the card, it says you must attach a basic energy card. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q85) Q. If 2 different energy cards attached to crystal pokemon (psychic and fighting for example), will it act as both types or only one type? A. It turns into whatever the last basic energy card that was attached's type. So even if you attached 2 basic energy that turn (using Meganium for example), it counts as the type of the last one attached (as long as that type is listed on its Crystal Type Poke-BODY). (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q72) == FLUFF (Jumpluff - Aquapolis Expansion) Q. If you have Magby against Aquapolis Jumpluff with at least 1 damage counter on it and use "Sputter", will it shut off the Jumpluff's Poke-Body automatically? A. All other effects of attacks except damage are always the last that occur so... it would get its flip before it is shut off. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q58) == HOWL (Entei - Neo: Revelation Expansion) Q. After getting Entei with Pokemon Fan Club, can I use Howl? A. No you would not, Howl can only be used when you play the Entei from your hand. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q124) == MIRACULOUS WIND (Light Dragonite - Neo: Destiny Expansion) Q. If my opponent has a Light Dragonite active, and I attach a Boost Energy to my active Steelix, for example, would my Boost Energy discard at the end of that turn, or would the opponent's pokepower cover me here? A. When Light Dragonite is Active, ALL special energies lose their additional effects. So the Boost Energy stays (as long as Miraculous Wind was working at that time). (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q65) == SCAVENGER HUNT (Furret - Aquapolis Expansion) Q. Furret's "Scavenger Hunt" pokemon power allows one to search for ANY kind of energy card (not just basic energy), right? A. Correct. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q20) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == MUG (Mankey - Aquapolis Expansion) If you use Aquapolis Mankey's attack "Mug", if you don't do any damage do you still discard all trainer cards attached to the Defending Pokemon? A. Yes you do. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q25) == SKETCH (Smeargle - Neo: Discovery Expansion) Q. For the EX cards like Charizard, where it just says "Discard R from Charizard" does this count as an attack cost so can I use Smeargle against it without having to have R energy? A. It is not an attack cost, it is an effect of the attack. So it is copied. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q101) == SUPER METRONOME (Togetic - Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. With Togetic from Genesis, can you use Super Metronome to copy the bench pokemon's attack, it just says "choose one of your opponent's Pokemon"? A. Yes. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q104) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UNOWN CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == COUNTERATTACK CLAWS (Neo: Destiny Expansion) Q. If you flip a tails for Counterattack Claws, does it still get discarded? [Or] stays until it does damage? A. Yes, you do discard it. Counterattack Claws is activated when the Pokemon it is attached to is the Active Pokemon and it takes damage from an attack. Then, whether you flip heads and place damage counters or not, it is discarded after the coin flip. (Feb 28, 2002 WotC Chat, Q403 & Q430 & Q491; Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q81) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS SINCE BEEN OVERRULED AND THE ORIGINAL HAS BEEN REINSTATED; See Above ***** Q1. For Neo4 counterattack claws, do you have to discard it no matter what you flip, or only if you do damage? it's kinda vague. A1. We'll run it by the rules team, but we think it will work similar to the other 'if you flip X cards... '. You wouldn't have to discard it unless it succeeded in damaging the opposing Pokemon. We know what the old ruling is. But in light of the recent reversals on like worded cards we think it deserves a second look. (Nov 7, 2002 WotC Chat, Q309 & Q320) Q2. Have you heard from the Rules Team yet about... If you flip a tails for Counterattack Claws, does it still get discarded? A2. We're gonna have to wait. (Nov 14, 2002 WotC Chat, Q14) == ENERGY REMOVAL 2 (Expedition Expansion) / SUPER ENERGY REMOVAL 2 (Aquapolis Expansion) [See Also: Energy Removal / Super Energy Removal] Q. If No Removal Gym is in play, do I have to discard two cards in order to play the new Card-E "Energy Removal 2" or "Super Energy Removal 2"? A. Nope, those are different cards. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q21) == NO REMOVAL GYM (Gym: Heroes Expansion) Q. If No Removal Gym is in play, do I have to discard two cards in order to play the new Card-E "Energy Removal 2" or "Super Energy Removal 2"? A. Nope, those are different cards. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q21) == POKEMON PARK (Aquapolis Expansion) Q. Pokemon Park is in play ("play an energy card to remove a damage counter from that Pokemon"). A Rainbow Energy is played on that Pokemon. Is one damage counter added then removed, or vice-versa, or no damage counters added/removed? A. It comes down to who controls what. The player who is going, decides the order of effects that he or she controls, and then the effects of the opponent's cards happens. So if you controlled Pokemon Park and was attaching the Rainbow Energy, you would choose which effect happens first (adding the damage counter or removing it). (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q51) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == BOOST ENERGY (Aquapolis Expansion) Q. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q65) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == FLIPPING COINS, DICE, ETC. Q. A Judging question -- a pokemon that has 5 or 6 cards attached to it is on the table. A player throws a six sided dice and it lands half on the table and half sitting on this big stack of cards at about a 25 or 30 degreee tilt. Is this similiar to the "flat coin ruling where the coin flip counts even if it lands in the damage counter or half on cards. What do we do? An experienced player gently pushed the cards out from under the dice to see if they stayed put. Two new players started debating just where the dice actually landed -- under a lot of cards or just a few??? A. Anything less then a 45 degree angle is fine. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q76) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TEAM GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == DOWNPOUR (Feraligatr - Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. Can you use Feraligatr's Downpour for your teammate in TMP? A. Yes you can. (Feb 20, 2003 WotC Chat, Q41) xxxxxxxxx1xxxxxxxxx2xxxxxxxxx3xxxxxxxxx4xxxxxxxxx5xxxxxxxxx6xxxxxxxxx7xxxxxxxxx8
