Say TRR Skiploom has 50 damage on it and the opponent uses ATM-Rock to devolve Skiploom back to Hoppip. Would Hoppip's "Buffer" Poke-BODY come into play in a situation like this? A. Yes, ATM-Rock's "Stone Generator" is considered an attack, and if an attack causes the Pokemon to be KO'd during that player's turn then "Buffer" will trigger. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == POWDER PROTECTION (Ledian - EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. If my Active Pokemon has an owner in its name, and its attack does damage to my own benched Pokemon, would Ledian's "Powder Protection" protect it from such damage. A. Yes, that is correct. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == SAND DAMAGE (Dark Tyranitar - EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. Say an active Dark Tyranitar with "Sand Damage" just KO'd my defending pokemon, and I only have a single benched pokemon with 10 HP left; does it get promoted to the active spot BEFORE it takes the 10 damage on the bench? Or does it take the Sand Damage on the bench and THEN get promoted? A. When the Defending Pokemon gets KO'd, the benched Pokemon gets promoted before the end of the turn. Since Sand Damage takes place *between turns*, the Pokemon that got promoted would not take any Sand Damage. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == BREAKING IMPACT (Girafarig - EX:Dragon; Dark Ariados - EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. The wording of Dark Ariados' "Breaking Impact" attack does not specifically indicate to whom the damage is done. So could I choose a benched Pokemon with a large retreat cost (i.e. Wailord-EX) and apply that damage onto the Defending Pokemon? A. No, that's not how it works. If you choose a benched Pokemon, then you apply the damage onto that benched Pokemon. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == DARK PROVIDE (Dark Celebi - EX:Hidden Legends) Q. Can Dark Celebi use its "Dark Provide" attack to attach a Dark Metal Energy card? A. Sorry, but "Dark Metal Energy" only provides Darkness & Metal energy when in play. While it's in your hand it does not count as such, therefore Dark Celebi cannot use Dark Provide to attach it. The same applies to Rainbow Energy, Double Rainbow Energy, Multi Energy, etc. as well. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == RAGING THUNDER (Rocket's Zapdos EX - EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. Rocket's Zapdos ex's Raging Thunder says: "This attack does 30 damage to 1 of your Pokémon". Could you target a Pokémon such as Wobbuffet (Sandstorm), Shedinja (Dragon), or Ledian (Team Rocket Returns) and do no damage to it due to their Poké-Bodies? A. Well, Wobbuffet's & Shedinja's powers specifically say to prevent damage from an OPPONENT, so that won't work. But the Ledian would be safe since it can prevent damage from your own attacks (as long as there's an owner in the attacking Pokemon's name). (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == THUNDER SLASH (Dark Flaaffy - EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. Is the Thunder Slash attack phrase "Dark Flaaffy can't use Thunder Slash during your next turn" only applied when the defending Pokemon is a Basic Pokemon? A. No, you cannot use Thunder Slash the following turn regardless of whether the Defending Pokemon is basic or not. The only way you could use it is if Dark Flaaffy is switched out, evolved/devolved, etc. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == SURPRISE! TIME MACHINE (EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. If I use "Surprise Time Machine", can I search for the same Evolution card that I shuffled into my deck? A. Yes, that is permitted. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) Q. If I use "Surprise Time Machine" and choose the same Evolution card that I shuffled into my deck, can I use that card's Pokemon powers even if I've already used it up for the turn (i.e. Blaziken's "Firestarter")? A. Unless it's a power that specifically says you may only use one of that power (overall) per turn, then yes that is permissible. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == SWOOP! TELEPORTER (EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. If I use Swoop Teleporter on a basic Pokemon that does not evolve (say Lugia) and has been in play for more than one turn, can I evolve the new Pokemon I switched in on that same turn? A. Yes, as long as the Basic Pokemon you switched out was in play at the start of your turn and would be allowed to evolve under normal conditions. (Nov 18, 2004 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == R ENERGY (EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. May I use "Dark Trance" to move around Rainbow Energy? Or R-Energy? Or Magma/Aqua Energy??? A. Yes, all of the above provide Dark energy, so they can be moved around by Dark Trance. (Nov 4, 2004 PUI Rules Team) Q. Once I attach R-Energy to a Dark/Rocket's Pokemon, can I then use "Dark Trance" to move it to a non-Dark or non-Rocket's Pokemon? A. No, the R-Energy card can NEVER become attached to a non-Dark or non-Rocket's Pokemon. And if the card it was originally attached to somehow devolves into a non-Dark Pokemon (i.e. Dark Dragonair becoming regular Dratini), the R-Energy would be discarded similar to the behavior of Double Rainbow Energy.
