If I have a Deoxys' Skarmory with two Dark Metal Energies attached, would I be able to flip when I use its "Heavy Metal" attack? A. Yes, you could flip for each of your attached Dark Metal Energies since they do indeed provide Metal Energy. You would also be able to flip if you had Rainbow, Multi, etc. (Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == ICE GENERATOR (Ancient Technical Machine [Ice] - EX:Hidden Legends) [see also Trainer Cards - Ancient Technical Machines] Q. If I have a Lileep evolved from a Root Fossil in play and my opponent uses ATM-Ice, what happens? A. ATM-Ice does not remove fossil cards that have already evolved into actual Pokemon. If I have a Lileep evolved from a Root Fossil in play and my opponent uses ATM-Ice, what happens? A. ATM-Ice does not remove fossil cards that have already evolved into actual Pokemon. (Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == ARCHIE / MAXIE (EX:Team Magma/Team Aqua) Q. Say I have a Team Aqua's Sealeo (Stage 1) that I Archie'd into play. Can I use a Rare Candy to evolve it to Team Aqua's Walrein on that same turn? A. Yes, you could. Rare Candy bypasses the normal rules of Evolution, and since you Archie'd it the Team Aqua's Sealeo would count as a Basic Pokemon. (Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == MAGNETIC STORM (EX:Hidden Legends) Q. If HL Jirachi attacks a Metal resistant Pokemon and Magnetic Storm is in play, is the attack damage reduced? A. This particular Jirachi is both a Psychic and a Metal Pokemon. Magnetic Storm checks that Jirachi is Psychic - therefore its damage is not reduced by Resistance of any kind. (Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == MASTER BALL (Gym: Challenge; Expedition; EX:Deoxys) Q. The wording on the new Deoxys verison of "Master Ball" says, "...Choose a Basic Pokemon or Evolution card...". However, the wording on the older versions say, "...you MAY choose..." Does this mean now that if you draw a Pokemon you MUST take it, or should it still be a choice? A. Sorry, you no longer get to choose. You MUST take a Pokemon if you draw at least one. (Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == RARE CANDY (EX:Sandstorm) Q. Say I use my Pichu's "Baby Evolution" power to evolve Pichu into Pikachu, which is now an "evolved Basic Pokémon". Can I then play Rare Candy on my Pikachu to evolve it into Raichu or Raichu-EX during the same turn? A. Since Pikachu would be considered an "Evolved Pokemon" at that point, Rare Candy cannot be used on that Pikachu. Rare Candy can only be used on "non-Evolved" Pokemon. (Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) Q. (Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) Q. If you use Rare Candy to evolve a Pokémon, and the evo card has a "Coming into Play" Pokémon Power (such as Dark Crobat), does that coming into play power get activated? A. Using Powers, Attacks, or Trainers that let you put a Pokemon in the game from your hand will allow coming into play Powers to activate. This is a reversal from previous rulings. (Oct 23, 2003 PUI Rules Team; Apr 14, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. If you use Rare Candy to evolve a Pokémon, and the evo card has a "Coming into Play" Pokémon Power (such as Dark Crobat), does that coming into play power get activated? A. Using Powers, Attacks, or Trainers to put a Pokémon in the game does not count as "playing the card from your hand" so coming into play Powers will not activate. (Oct 23, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == SURPRISE! TIME MACHINE (EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. Say I use "Surprise! Time Machine" and remove a Stage 2 Pokemon that was evolved from a Basic using Rare Candy. What happens if I do not have a corresponding Stage 1 card in my deck for the Pokemon that devolved? A. Sorry, but the Pokemon would have to remain a Basic at that point.
