Is Dark Slowking's "Cunning" power cumulative? A. Sure. You could look at the top card of their deck and have them shuffle for the first Dark Slowking, and then if you have another Dark Slowking in play you could do it again for the second one. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == ENERGY FLAME (Charizard EX - EX:Fire Red / Leaf Green) Q. Say Charizard-EX has a Boost Energy and a Multi Energy card attached to it. All of this energy is converted to Fire due to Charizard-EX's "Energy Flame" Poke-Power, and can be used for the attack and is discarded at the end of the turn. The fact that Multi Energy being considered Colorless due to it being attached with other special energies is overcome by the "Energy Flame" Poke-Power, right? A. Yes, that is correct. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == FLUFF (Swablu - EX:Deoxys) Q. If Dark Raticate uses "Dark Seed" against a damaged Swablu, is the "Fluff" coin flip done as soon as the attack is announced, when the 5 damage counters are placed, or both times? A. It would only be done the first time. You would flip for Fluff when the Dark Seed attack puts the effect onto the Swablu; but you would not flip when the five damage counters are placed because that's a *result of the effect* on Swablu rather than a direct result of the Dark Seed attack [just like you wouldn't flip each time you placed a damage counter for poison]. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == INTIMIDATING PATTERN (Masquerain - EX:Deoxys) Q. Does "Intimidating Pattern" also help prevent damage to benched Pokémon? A. That is correct. As long as Masquerain is one of your Active Pokémon, it will reduce damage done to ANY of your Pokémon by 20. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == LAZY (Slaking - EX:Ruby/Sapphire) Q. Does Slaking's "Lazy" Poke-BODY prevent coming-into-play Poke-POWERS? A. Yes, "coming into play" powers are prevented by Slaking's "Lazy" [similar to the behavior of Muk-EX's "Toxic Gas"]. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. Does Slaking's "Lazy" Poke-BODY prevent coming-into-play Poke-POWERS? A. Nope, "coming into play" powers are not prevented by Slaking's "Lazy" [similar to the behavior of Muk-EX's "Toxic Gas"]. (Dec 2, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == LEGENDARY ASCENT (Articuno EX - EX:Fire Red / Leaf Green; Moltres EX - EX:Fire Red / Leaf Green; Zapdos EX - EX:Fire Red / Leaf Green) Q. Does Muk's "Toxic Gas" prevent the "Legendary Ascent" Poke-POWER found on the legendary birds of FireRed/LeafGreen from happening? A. As soon as the Pokemon is played, "Toxic Gas" will prevent its Poké-Power; so "Legendary Ascent" is prevented by "Toxic Gas". (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. Does Muk's "Toxic Gas" prevent the "Legendary Ascent" Poke-POWER found on the legendary birds of FireRed/LeafGreen from happening? A. No, "coming into play" powers like "Legendary Ascent" are not prevented by "Toxic Gas". (Sep 9, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == PRIMAL PULL (Claydol - EX:Hidden Legends) Q. Does Claydol's "Primal Pull" add energy cost to attacks from TM trainers? The TM's say you can "use this card's attacks instead of its own". A. The intent of Primal Pull is that the active Pokemon must pay one more energy whenever it attacks, regardless of whether its attack is printed on the card or referenced from somewhere else like a TM or a stadium. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == TOXIC GAS (Muk - Fossil; Muk EX - EX:Dragon) Q. Does an opposing Muk-EX stop Milotic's power (or any other "coming into play power" on a different Pokémon) from working? A. As soon as Milotic is evolved, "Toxic Gas" will prevent its Poké-Power, so Milotic cannot use "Healing Shower". (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. Does an opposing Muk-EX stop Milotic's power (or any other "coming into play power" on a different Pokémon) from working? A. No, "coming into play" powers like "Healing Shower" are not prevented by "Toxic Gas". (Jun 10, 2004 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == DARK FIRE (Dark Houndoom - Neo: Destiny; Dark Houndoom - Team Rocket Returns) Q. With Dark Houndoom, can you discard an "R-Energy" to pay for the "Dark Fire" attack and do the extra +20 damage? And if so, will it also add the normal +10 more damage for "R-Energy" just like regular "Darkness Energy" does? A. Yes on all counts. The intent of the card is that Darkness Energy and R-Energy would still get to do its extra +10 damage even though it is in fact being discarded BEFORE damage is actually done. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == METEOR FALLS (EX:Deoxys) Q. If I use Clefable's "Metronome" with Meteor Falls in play, can I use attacks from my opponent's Stage 2, Stage 1 or Basic, or can I only use the highest stage only? A. Meteor Falls only works when an Active Pokemon tries to attack; since the Defending Pokemon doesn't have any of the attacks of its previous evolutions on it, Metronome would not be able to copy those attacks. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) Q. If I use Togetic's "Rainbow Moves" with Meteor Falls in play, can I use attacks from my opponent's Stage 2, Stage 1 or Basic, or can I only use the highest stage only? A. Meteor Falls only works on Active Pokemon, and Rainbow Moves only allows you to copy attacks from Benched Pokemon. So that will never work. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == MT. MOON (EX:Fire Red / Leaf Green) Q. Does Mt. Moon prevent coming-into-play Poke-POWERS such as Ninjask's "Loose Shell"? A. Yes, "coming into play" powers are prevented by Mt. Moon (similar to the behavior of Muk-EX's "Toxic Gas"). (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == MULTI ENERGY (EX:Sandstorm) Q. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == R ENERGY (EX:Team Rocket Returns) Q. (Apr 21, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == DECKS Q. Say I'm playing an Italian Rainbow Energy and outside my deck I have the English Rainbow Energy from the old Team Rocket set. Can I still use an old card that got reprinted in a new English set, as long as it's in English itself, as the translation? A. If you're playing with a non-local language card, it would be best if you can use a current card with the correct text on it. The older cards will work, but if you misrepresent what the card actually does the judge will be more inclined to think it was done on purpose.
