Does Blaziken's "Blaze" Poké-Body work after each player's turn, or does it only apply when Blaziken attacks? A. It only applies to attacks made by Blaziken that do damage. If Blaziken does not attack or if its attack damage is reduced to zero (i.e. using "Searing Flame" with Double Rainbow Energy attached), you do not get to do the +40 damage. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == GREEN ESSENCE (Sceptile - EX:Emerald) Q. What happens if my Active Pokémon is already Poisoned when a Grass Energy is attached to the Pokémon while I have Sceptile with "Green Essence" in play? A. All Special Conditions are removed from your Pokémon at any point that the Pokémon has Grass Energy attached to it. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) Q. What happens if Sceptile with "Green Essence" enters play when a Pokemon is already affected by a Special Condition?? Are they instantly cured? A. Yes, those Pokemon would lose any Special Conditions on them. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == CURSED GLARE (Cacturne EX - EX:Emerald) Q. If my opponent has Cacturne-EX in play, does the "Cursed Glare" Poké-Body stop me from attaching a Rainbow Energy from my hand to my Active Pokémon? A. Yes. It prevents you from attaching a range of Special Energy cards from your hand - R Energy, Dark Metal Energy, and Rainbow Energy, just to name a few. The only Special Energy cards it can't stop are the actual Darkness and Metal Energy cards. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == MYSTIC SCALE (Milotic EX - EX:Emerald) Q. I attacked with Ancient Technical Machine [Ice] last turn. During my opponent's turn, he evolves his Feebas into Milotic-EX. Does "Mystic Scale" get rid of my protection for the turn? A. Mystic Scale removes Technical Machine cards from play, but any existing effects from those cards are not canceled. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == SKY KICK (Medicham EX - EX:Emerald) Q. Medicham-EX uses "Sky Kick" against a Pokémon with Resistance to Fighting, and Magnetic Storm is in play - does Medicham-EX still do the extra 40 damage? A. Yes. Magnetic Storm does not eliminate the Fighting Resistance; it just means that the Defending Pokémon doesn't get to reduce the damage by 30. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == BATTLE FRONTIER (EX:Emerald) Q. If I have a Dual-type Pokemon, say Darkness + Psychic, would Battle Frontier prevent it from using any "Poke-POWER" or "Poke-BODY"? A. If one of the Pokemon's two types is Colorless, Darkness, or Metal, then yes its powers would be prevented. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) Q. Since Team Aqua's Kyogre and Team Magma's Groudon are both part Darkness-type, does Battle Frontier prevent their "Power Saver" Poke-BODY from working and allow them to attack no matter how many TA/TM Pokemon are in play? A. No, because Battle Frontier only works on Evolved Pokemon. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) Q. Does Battle Frontier prevent old-style "Pokemon Powers" from older sets (i.e. Base Set thru Neo Destiny)? A. Yes, "Poke-POWER" and "Poke-BODY" cover all types of "Pokemon Powers, and the intent of Battle Frontier is to prevent all powers. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) == MR. STONE'S PROJECT (EX:Emerald) Q. When using Mr. Stone's Project, if I choose to look for basic Energy cards in my deck and can't find the ones I want, is it okay to get some from my discard pile? A. No. When you play the Supporter card, you must choose either your deck or your discard pile. But remember, you can look through your discard pile at any time during the game. (May 5, 2005 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == STARTING THE GAME Q. Before starting the game, Player-A has a Basic Pokemon but Player-B does not. On Player-A's draw 1 card for mulligan, say they draw a better choice for starting Pokemon; are they allowed to switch it out with the one they chose to be their 1st active before the mulligan? And if they choose to switch, must it stay on the field and not allowed to be put back into hand? A. Resolve mulligans before placing your Active Pokemon (as per the rulebooks). If you place an Active before the mulligans have finished, you can change your mind.
