Say Porygon changes an opponent's weakness to Metal. I then use Scizor's False Swipe to do half of the remaining HP damage, and then double that amount due to weakness. Is this the correct way to calculate the damage in this situation? A. Yup. (Jul 26, 2001 WotC Chat, Q46 & Q60) == LOCK-ON (Magnemite - Neo: Discovery Expansion) Q. If I use Neo D Magnemite's "Lock On" the turn before and am then confused the following turn and try to attack with "Electric Bolt", if you get a tails for the confusion flip do you treat it as heads? A. No, Magnemite's Lock On only works on coin flips _for_ the attack, not for Confusion. If you have an Unown-D is in Play and you put another Unown D in play, do both of their Powers stop working, or just one? I'm asking since some rulings seem to be based on intent and not wording. A. Both their powers stop working. [Ed.Note: Same ruling would apply to Unown-M and Unown-N too.] (Jul 26, 2001 WotC Chat, Q65) Q. Since the power on Unown D says "This power stops working if *you* have more than 1 Unown D in play.", does that mean if you and your opponent both have unown Ds in play, both pokemon powers still work? A. Yes they would. [Ed.Note: Same ruling would apply to Unown-M and Unown-N too.] (Jul 26, 2001 WotC Chat, Q91) == DARKNESS (Unown-D - Neo: Discovery Expansion) Q. When using Feint Attack against an opponent that has Unown-D (regardless of whether it's benched or active), the only time the "Darkness" power is ignored is when attacking the active pokemon, and it is never ignored when attacking the bench, right? A. Correct. (Jul 26, 2001 WotC Chat, Q4) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == BLAINE'S QUIZ #1, #2, and #3 (Gym: Heroes & Gym: Challenge Expansions) Q. What do you do if a Blaine's Quiz is played in a way that prevents proper answer (i.e., wrong attack with Quiz #3)? A. Well, it depends on how far the player's followed through with the effects of the trainer card. If cards were drawn, that would be some degree of precedural error. (Jul 26, 2001 WotC Chat, Q10 & Q41) == FOCUS BAND (Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. If a pokemon with a Focus Band attached is KO'd by Elekid's "Playful Punch" power, does the Focus Band go into effect or not? A. Focus band will only trigger off an attack that KO's the Pokemon it's attached to. (Jul 26, 2001 WotC Chat, Q5) * Remember, Focus Band only works if your opponent attacks your pokemon with it attached, not if your chansey would KO itself. And only from attacks. (Jul 26, 2001 WotC Chat, Q26) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == STARTING THE GAME Q. Two players both get starting hands with no basic pokemon, so player 1 mulligans and player 2 draws 2 cards. However, neither card is a basic, and player 1's new hand still has no basics in it. Who mulligans next? A. If player 2 doesn't have any basics in their opening hand then both player's should have restarted.
