If Brock's Ninetales is on the field with a Neo3 Aerodactyl on the bench, and the Brock's Ninetales has a Feraligatr and a Erika's Victreebel on it, could you have the Victreebel on top and still attack with Feraligatr? A. Yes, as long has you have the right energy. Aerodactyl says that any evolution card attached, so it does make a difference what other evo's are on, you could use their attacks. (Jul 18, 2002 WotC Chat, Q5 & Q32 & after-Q87) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UNOWN CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == BALLOON BERRY (Neo: Revelation Expansion) Q. Can Balloon Berry be used to retreat a Paralyzed, Confused, or Sleeping Pokémon? A. No. You have to be able to retreat normally to use the balloon. (Jul 18, 2002 WotC Chat, Q20) == CLEFAIRY DOLL (Base Set) / MYSTERIOUS FOSSIL (Fossil Expansion) [CHRISBO EDIT - Place this one right after last week's ruling on Mysterious Fossil.] Q. Can you place Clefairy Doll during setup? A. Nope, just like with Mys. Fossil. It is not a Pokemon you can start with. You may not start with a trainer card as one of your starting Pokemon. (Jul 18, 2002 WotC Chat, Q10 & Q31) == MARY (Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. If you play a Mary Trainer card but you cannot draw 2 cards from your deck, can you still play Mary and shuffle 2 cards from your hand back into your deck? A. Yes. (Jul 18, 2002 WotC Chat, Q9) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TEAM GAMEPLAY (Notice: These rulings are subject to change until Team Play becomes an officially sanctioned format...) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == AGILITY (Raichu - Base Set, Rapidash - Jungle Expansion, others) Q. When using Agility in Team Play, can you specify which of the opposing team's Active Pokemon is affected by the Agility effect, or does it HAVE to be the Defending Pokemon that you are attacking with Agility? A. It does have a you or your in it, so you would be able to select which opponent's active Pokemon it affects. (Jul 18, 2002 WotC Chat, Q22) == BILL (Base Set) * Bill: This trainer card reads - Draw 2 cards. Since there is not a "you" or "your" in this cards text, you CANNOT play this card on a teammate, only on yourself. (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == CURSE (Gengar - Fossil Expansion) Gengar's Curse: Applying rule #12 [actually Rule #13 in v1.3] allows you to either move a damage counter from one of your opponent's Pokemon to another of that same opponent's Pokemon OR to move a damage counter from your other opponent's Pokemon to another of his or her Pokemon. You cannot use this power to move a counter from one opponent's Pokemon to the other opponent's Pokemon (or vice versa). (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == DAMAGE SWAP (Alakazam - Base Set) * Alakazam's Damage Swap: Applying rule #12 [actually Rule #13 in v1.3] allows you to either move a damage counter from one of your Pokemon to another of your Pokemon OR to move a damage counter from one of your teammate's Pokemon to another of his or her Pokemon. You cannot use this power to move a counter from one of their Pokemon to one of yours (or vice versa). (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == DOUBLE GUST (Neo: Genesis Expansion) * Double Gust: When you play this card you must first declare which opponent you are using it on. That opponent then gets to decide which Pokemon (yours or your teammate's) gets switched with that player's Active Pokemon. Then you would get to decide which of that opponent's Pokemon gets switched with their Active Pokemon. (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == ECOGYM (Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. In Team Play, if a player does something that causes his partner to discard a non-Colorless energy card (say, Pokemon Center) with Ecogym in play, would those non-Colorless energies return to the player's hand? A. Yes, they would get the energy back. We're ruling that it will work for now... (Jul 18, 2002 WotC Chat, Q21) == HOWL (Neo: Revelation Expansion) * Entei's Howl: You can choose to use this Pokemon Power on yourself or on your teammate during your turn. Either way, the person who is actually playing the card (takes it from his or her hand and puts it on their bench and decides to use the Pokemon Power) ends their turn (whether they or their teammate used the Power). (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == POKEMON BREEDER (Base Set) * Pokemon Breeder: While it may appear that you could play this card on your teammate, read the last sentence of this card. Other players cannot normally evolve a Pokemon on your turn. So this card can only be played on yourself in this format. (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == POKEMON TRADER (Base Set) * Pokemon Trader: You can choose to play this card on yourself or on your teammate on your turn. Your teammate must have a Pokemon in his or her hand in order for you to play it on them though. (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == PROFESSOR ELM (Neo: Genesis Expansion) * Professor Elm: You can choose to use this card on yourself or on your teammate during your turn. Either way, the person who is actually playing the card (takes it from his or her hand and discards it) cannot play any more Trainer cards that turn (this is a cost). (WotC Pokemon Multiplayer Rules v1.3, Jul 12, 2002) == TIME CAPSULE (Neo: Genesis Expansion) * Time Capsule: When you play this card you must first declare which opponent has the option to use this card's ability. After they have done so, you can then choose whether you or your teammate gets to use this card's ability. Either way, the person who is actually playing the card (takes it from his or her hand and discards it) cannot play any more Trainer cards that turn (this is a cost).
