Does Parasect's "Allergic Pollen" pokemon power stop Entei's "Howl" from removing the fire energies from the discard pile after Entei has "discarded" them? A. No, that Parasect just prevents stuff from affecting cards in your discard pile, not your deck. In this case it's the intent of the power and the Parasect's Power only stops things that are going after cards that are in the discard pile. Entei's Howl is clearly going after cards from the top of the deck. It should have been more clear about this on the card. (Jun 20, 2002 WotC Chat, Q94 & Q104 & Q108 & Q113; Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q6) == HOWL (Entei - Neo: Revelation Expansion) Q. Are the energies attached with Entei's Howl power considered as being played from your hand (for Dark Ampharos' Conductivity power for instance)? A. No, they don't count as being played from your hand. (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q9) Q. (Jun 20, 2002 WotC Chat, Q94 & Q104 & Q108 & Q113; Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q6) Q. So would I be correct in assuming that Pokemon Tower would not stop Entei's Howl either? A. Yes, that's right. [Ed.Note: The cards don't go to your hand anyways.] (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q19 & Q24) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == DARK FIRE (Dark Houndoom - Neo: Destiny Expansion) Q. How much damage does the Dark Fire attack do if you discard a Rainbow or Miracle Energy? How about a Darkness Energy card? A. Discard an actual Darkness Energy and the attack does 60, discard anything else that is providing Darkness energy (Rainbow, Buzzaped Electrode) and the attack does 50. The intent of the card is that Darkness Energy would still get to do its extra 10 damage even though it is in fact being discarded BEFORE damage is actually done. (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q29) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS SINCE BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. Can we get a review of how much damage is done by Dark Houndoom if a Darkness Energy is discarded; or a Rainbow Energy? We've seen a few different interpretations of this. A. 60 in each case (30 + 20 + 10 for the Darkness [or Rainbow] Energy you discarded). The energy discard takes place BEFORE damage is done so Darkness Energy would NOT add an additional 10 damage. (May 2, 2002 WotC Chat, Q134) == HURRICANE (Pidgeot - Jungle Expansion) Q. If Pidgeot Hurricanes a pokemon w/ Focus Band and would knock it out and then the focus flip is heads, do all the cards go back to hand? A. Yes they do. (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q51) == MEGA BURN (Sabrina's Alakazam - Gym: Challenge Expansion) Q. If you have an attack like Sabrina's Alakazam's "Mega Burn" or Promo Scyther's "Slashing Strike" that says "you can't use this attack next turn", would you be able to use it next turn if on this turn you failed the Baby Rule flip? A. Yes, because you don't actually attack when you fail the baby flip. [Ed.Note: Therefore, the condition saying you can't use the attack on the next turn is never invoked.] (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q7) == SKETCH (Smeargle - Neo: Discovery Expansion) Q. Because Ninetales, Charizard and Flareon got their text changed in LC [Legendary Collection], Smeargle can't copy their attacks without discarding the correct Energy, right? A. You are correct. (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q61) == SLASHING STRIKE (Scyther - Promo) Q. [Ed.Note: Therefore, the condition saying you can't use the attack on the next turn is never invoked.] (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q7) Q. I heard somewhere that some of the LC [Legendary Collection] cards have different attacks to the original cards - and if the original cards are used in a deck you have to use the LC attacks - is this true? A. Yes, you would have to use the revised wording of the attack if it has changed. To my knowledge, the only Pokemon that this really matter on are Fire Pokemon with the 'Discard one 'Fire' energy or this attack does nothing' text. (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q42) Q. If the text is different, wouldn't we have to have a LC print of the card if we were using it in a DCI sactioned tournament? A. No, but you are responsible for knowing the current wording if you are using an older version of the card. (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q45) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TEAM GAMEPLAY (Notice: These rulings are subject to change until Team Play becomes an officially sanctioned format...) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == ENERGY TRANS (Venusaur - Base Set) Q. In team battle, can I use my Venusaur to switch grass energy between my teammate's pokemon (not moving them between owners)? A. Yes. (Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q71) == TRAMPLE (Tyranitar - Neo: Discovery Expansion) Q. In Team Play, does Tyranitar's "Trample" attack involve all four players' pokemon in play, or do you have to designate one player from each team? A. Yes, it does. All four players' Pokemon. (Jun 13, 2002 WotC Chat, Q28 & Q36; Jun 27, 2002 WotC Chat, Q38) == WILD GROWTH (Meganium - Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. In team battle, can I benefit from my teammate's Meganium's Wild Growth pokemon power? A. [It] is a continuous Pokemon Power so you must declare when you play that Meganium which player it helps.
