Any new ruling on the expedition Blastoise's pokemon power? You will go to TPC with this right? A. The way this one should work (if it was translated correctly) is that "you must successfully discard an energy card from Blastoise in order to discard one from your opponent's active Pokemon". Yes, TPC will post it. I mean they verified it. Blastoise is played as follows. IF you have an energy on your Blastoise and IF Blastoise is your active Pokemon, then once during your tun you MAY choose to flip a coin. If you get heads, then you discard an energy from Blastoise. If you DO discard an energy from Blastoise (meaning there has to be one on there to discard), then you can also discard one energy from the Defending Pokemon. That is how the card is supposed to work, period. Blastoise is errated. There are a few Poke-POWERS that were not correctly translated and templated. [...] The Light Arcanine from Neo Destiny is another power that should have had "you may" also included. So please play this power and any others that seems similar (meaning you should normally have the option to use instead of having to use) as if it included "you may". (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat Announcements) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS SINCE BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. Is the Pokémon Power Drive Off (Light Arcanine) mandatory? A. Light Arcanine's Drive Off is written in a way that makes it mandatory if he is your active Pokemon. If [this] Pokemon is Active and unaffected by a Special Condition, you MUST use their Pokemon Power. If Igglybuff is on your bench, and you gaze Promo Snorlax on the opponent's bench, and you Double Gust up the Snorlax, is its power still off? Can you retreat? A. No and no. (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat, Q23) == GUARD (Snorlax - Promo) Q. If Igglybuff is on your bench, and you gaze Promo Snorlax on the opponent's bench, and you Double Gust up the Snorlax, is its power still off? Can you retreat? A. No and no. There are a few Poke-POWERS that were not correctly translated and templated. Specifically the Feraligatr and its Major Tsunami power SHOULD have said "you may" in it. So please play this power and any others that seems similar (meaning you should normally have the option to use instead of having to use) as if it included "you may". The Light Arcanine from Neo Destiny is another power that should have had "you may" also included. (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat Announcements) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS SINCE BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. For Expedition Feraligatr's "Major Tsunami" Pokemon Power, is it mandatory that you and your opponent *HAVE TO* do the switch or is it optional? The text does not say "you may...". Same goes for Light Arcanine. A. Both of these effects are mandatory. If either of these Pokemon is Active and unaffected by a Special Condition, you MUST use their Pokemon Power. (Sep 16, 2002 WotC Rules Team Update, Item 13) == PSYMIMIC (Alakazam - Expedition Expansion) Q. Expedition Alakazam Psymimics "Genetic Memory" from Kingdra - does it get to use Abra's/Kadabra's attacks? Or Horsea's/Seadra's? Or nothing? A. You can use Abra or Kadabra's attacks. (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat, Q27) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UNOWN CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == TRAINERS IN GENERAL Q. Is there a clarification on the supporters as i have heard 3 different rulings of when you can USE the card? I mean like when do you do what the supporter card says, before your attack, at the end of your turn? A. You can play 1 supporter at any point during your turn (before your attack). You play the effect immediately just as playing ANY trainer. You have to leave the supporter out though to indicate that you already played one this turn. At the end of the turn you discard it but you would have used its effect when you actaully played it from your hand. (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat, Q7 & Q25) Q. Slowking, Dark Vileplume, etc. can stop Supporters just like trainers, right? A. Correct. It still says Trainer on the top of the cards. (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat, Q48) == CHAOS GYM (Gym: Challenge Expansion) [see also Pokemon Power: "Mind Games"] Q. A Supporter has to be used immediately upon being played, correct? The "if you don't use it" phrasing is only for things like Chaos Gym, right? So, if you play a Supporter and flip tails on Chaos Gym, can your opponent use it, and can you try to play another Supporter or does the first one sit there, useless? A. We will have to say that on a failed Chaos Gym flip, the opponent could NOT use a supporter card (as it goes into play, to mark that a supporter was used). They would not put it next to their active Pokemon as you never take another player's cards. So on a failed Chaos Gym flip, a supporter would just be discarded. The card does NOT work and it is discarded, opponent cannot use it (think of it like a Poketool in this case). You could still try and play another on your turn since the first one didn't resolve. (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat, Q43 & Q45) == STRENGTH CHARM (Expedition Expansion) Q. A few Strength Charm questions. If you Zzzap with a charm, does it do 30 to everything with powers? Also, if you use Kingdra's Mud Splash and flip heads, would it do 40 and 20 to a benched pokemon? A. Yes and yes. (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat, Q16) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TEAM GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == CHAOS MOVE (Gengar - Expedition Expansion) Q. Why is it that you can't move a damage counter from one of your opponent's pokemon to another with the new Gengar's power? A. You can. You can't move a counter between players (this affects team play) but you can move 1 counter between your Pokemon OR between your opponent's (as long as they have 3 prizes or less left). (Oct 3, 2002 WotC Chat, Q20) Q. In team, could you always use the new Gengar's pokemon power since the opponent will always have 3 or less prizes? A. Actually, in this case you count the team total. So in constructed they start with 5, and in limited they start with 4. But it would work quicker wouldn't it?
