Wizards of the Coast will reissue the Darkness energy with corrected text (same as the Neo Genesis version) in the upcoming Aquapolis release. We just play Darkness Energy exactly how we've always played it. (Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat Announcements) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON POWERS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == SHAPESHIFT (Brock's Ninetales - Gym: Challenge Expansion) Q. Can attached cards on Brock's Ninetales use their Poke-BODYs, or are they still considered Poke-POWERs? A. Poke-BODYs are Pokemon Powers, they are just a sub category of them. You could NOT use them in this case. (Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat, Q371) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == LUNAR POWER (Erika's Clefairy - Gym: Challenge Expansion) Q. Using Erika's Clefairy's Lunar Power Attack and got a flip of heads. I had already evolved Charmader into Charmeleon. Should not I be allowed to use Erika's Clefairy's Lunar Power Attack to evolve Charmeleon into Charizard on this same turn? A. Basically, if an attack or a Pokemon Power has you attach a Pokemon to a card in play (and says it counts as evolving) what it means is that anything that would be triggered by a Pokemon evolving would be triggered. Like Eevee's Chain Reaction, or the removal of a status effect or so on. The evolution rules ONLY limit when you play a Pokemon from your hand onto a Pokemon in play. Those others, get around these limitations. (Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat, Q343 & Q368) ***** PREVIOUS RULING: THIS ONE HAS SINCE BEEN OVERRULED; See Above ***** Q. Using Erika's Clefairy's Lunar Power attack and flipped heads. On _this_ turn, you had previously evolved Charmander into Charmeleon. Would you be allowed to evolve Charmeleon into Charizard with this attack? In effect, would Lunar Power allow you to evolve twice in the same turn? A. The answer is no, you cannot evolve that same Pokémon again that turn. (Oct 12, 2000 WotC Chat, Q31) == ZZZAP (Pichu - Neo: Genesis Expansion) Q. Does Pichu's Zzzzap attack affect pokemon that have a Poke-BODY power on them? A. Yes, Pokemon Powers are Pokemon Powers. (Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat, Q303) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UNOWN CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == BLAINE'S QUIZ #1, #2, and #3 (Gym: Heroes & Gym: Challenge Expansions) [CHRISBO NOTE: Updated existing ruling with new information.] Q. For Blaine's Quiz #1 can the opponent look at any face up cards around them to figure out the length of a Pokémon. Can he/she look at an open binder nearby? I have a feeling the answer is yes/no. A. You could look at other Pokémon that are in play but not at a binder. Just the in play area or the discard pile for either player. (August 17, 2000 WotC Chat Q194; Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat, Q367 & Q375) Q. If there's no length on the Pokemon [i.e. non-holos in Card-E], then how am I supposed to play Blaine's Quiz #1? A. All of the biological info for the Pokemon cards [in Card-E] now resides on your Game Boy Advance. The dot strip along the bottom of the card unlocks a picture, data, and tips about the card in your GBA if you decide to get the reader when it is available. The likelihood of these being allowed in tournaments is slim, but we'll verify with the rules guys first. (Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat, Q280 & Q295 & Q302 & Q307) == ENERGY CHARGE (Neo: Genesis Expansion) / POWER CHARGE (Expedition Expansion) Q. Since the trainers "Power Charge" (Expedition) and "Energy Charge" (Neo: Genesis) are nearly identical except for the name, can you have four of each in a deck since the names are different? A. Well, if that is the case then you could. (Sep 12, 2002 WotC Chat, Q305) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ENERGY CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL GAMEPLAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == ATTACKING Q. Are attacks that can only be viewed on the E-Card reader tournament legal? A. Nope, the e-reader technology is fun but not tournament legal. It's too distracting to other players and hard to see by both players at the same time.
