So, you should play Balloon Berry as if it negates the Pokemon's retreat cost while attached to that pokemon, not just when it actually attempts to retreat. For example, Muk-EX's "Slimy Water" attack damage will be reduced to only 40 against a Pokemon with Balloon Berry attached to it. If I use Buried Fossil's "Reconstruction" Poke-Power and there are no Kabutos or Omanytes do I still put the Energy into the deck? A. No, if you don't have a Kabuto or Omanyte in your deck then you don't bury the energy. (Nov 13, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == TRANSFORM (Ditto - Fossil) Q. Fossil Ditto vs. EX:Sandstorm Kecleon: would a Ditto with no Basic Energy cards attached be all the types of Basic Energy cards attached to Kecleon as per Kecleon's Poké-BODY? A. No, Ditto copies the card, not effects on the card. Treat Ditto as if it were a copy of that card in all respects of the actual card, not the "pokemon". So Ditto would still be colorless until it has Basic Energy cards on it. (Nov 13, 2003 PUI Rules Team) Q. Fossil Ditto vs. EX:Sandstorm Kecleon: per the wording on both Kecleon's Poké-BODY and Ditto's power, if Ditto has a Basic Energy card attached to it, would it be every single type simultaneously? A. Ditto would use the actual color of the card for its "Energy Variation", not what energy it provides at any given time. You go by the color of the actual card since it designates "type of basic Energy card". Can Apricorn Maker be used to search for the Trainer "Balloon Berry"? Taking the card literally, *BALL*oon Berry contains the exact same "Ball" as given on Apricorn Maker. A. Of course not, don't be silly! You can only search for cards like Poke Ball, Fast Ball, Master Ball, etc. Nice try, slick... If I have Balloon Berry attached to a Pokemon, do I *have* to use it to pay for the Retreat Cost, or can I choose to discard energies and save the Balloon Berry for later? A. No, you must use Balloon Berry if you retreat that pokemon normally. (Nov 13, 2003 PUI Rules Team) == SCOOP UP (Base Set) Q. If I play Scoop Up on a Wobbuffet that has evolved from a Wynaut, which card I return to my hand? Wynaut or Woobuffet? Or can I choose one of these? A. The intent of Scoop Up is to return the lowest level back into your hand and discard the rest. So in this case you would return the Wynaut; no choice.
