If you have FR/LG Nidoking in play and make an attack that does no direct damage (i.e. puts opponent to sleep, or poisons them), does Nidoking's power add +10 damage or not? A. The implication of "Power Gene" is that you must do at least SOME damage in order to do "10 MORE". If the attack does no damage, then Power Gene does not work. (Sep 16, 2004 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON ATTACKS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == BURN DOWN (Charizard EX - EX:Fire Red / Leaf Green) Q. Charizard-EX's "Burn Down" attack says it is not affected by Poke-BODYs, etc., but what about Jumpluff's Fluff? As I understand the power - I flip, if heads the attack still happens, but Jumpluff just doesn't take any affects. So would a heads flip on Fluff be the only way to survive a "Burn Down"? A. Nope, just like Burn Down ignores Safeguard, it also ignores Fluff too. Unless something can completely "stop the attack" (i.e. Baby Rule flip), Burn Down cuts through it. (Sep 16, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == STEEL WAVE (Registeel EX - EX:Hidden Legends) Q. Say Registeel-EX does "Steel Wave" against a Pokemon that is dual-type (like Team Aqua's Walrein that is both Darkness & Water). If you have another Pokemon on the bench with the same dual-type (like a second Team Aqua's Walrein), then would the attack do 40 damage to the bench (20 per type)? A. No. While a dual-type Pokemon does represent two types, Steel Wave does not count a Pokemon card more than once when figuring out bench damage. It would only do 20. (Sep 16, 2004 PUI Rules Team) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAINER CARDS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- == TROPICAL WIND (Promo) Q. Tropical Wind says "If heads, remove 2 damage counters from each Active Pokemon..." Is that mine and my opponent's, or does it only apply to 2-on-2 battles? A. It refers to both you and your opponent. In the case of 2-on-2 battles, all four Actives would benefit. In 2-on-2 Play, if Victreebel is your only Active Pokemon (i.e. no bench either), can you use its "Acid Sampler" Poke-BODY? A. Well, since you don't have an "other Active Pokemon" in this scenario, it's Poke-BODY works normally and places one damage counter between turns. It only stops working if you have an "other Active Pokemon" and that other Active is not named "Victreebel". (Sep 16, 2004 PUI Rules Team) == STRENGTH CHARM (Expedition; EX:Team Magma/Team Aqua) Q. In 2-on-2 Play, does Strength Charm do +10 to both of the opponent's Active Pokemon if the attack damages both of them (i.e. Typhlosion-EX's "Split Blast" attack)? A. Yes, since the Pokemon which Strength Charm is attached to is damaging two "Active Pokemon", it would indeed add +10 damage to each of them. Just remember, Strength Charm does not +10 to any bench damage.
